A damp cloth is sufficient; a plastic cleaner can be used for coarser soiling. Upholstery covers should be vacuumed or brushed regularly. Stains can be removed with a textile cleaner. Velvet is somewhat more sensitive: first dab off any dirt with an absorbent cloth. Then apply a mixture of water and upholstery shampoo. Rub carefully from the outside inwards so that no fibers are damaged.
